Bringing Funding Back to District 13 – Delivering Results for Our Community

I have always believed that the people of District 13 deserve their fair share of city resources—and I have made it my mission to bring millions of dollars back to our neighborhoods. Through hands-on advocacy and working directly with city agencies, I ensure that every dollar is invested where it makes the biggest impact: in schools, libraries, parks, public safety, and services for families, seniors, and veterans.

THE ISSUES:

Public Safety

Nothing matters more than keeping our neighborhoods safe. That’s why I have made public safety the cornerstone of my work. I proudly back the blue and have been a consistent voice for fully funding our precincts and community affairs programs, ensuring our officers have the resources they need to protect our families. I am delivering over 10 new Argus cameras for District 13, with several placed in high-priority areas like Ferry Point Park, where deterrence is critical to keeping residents safe.

I secured over $12 million for our precincts, distributed 200 emergency cameras and 500 flood-preparedness kits, and partnered with the NYPD Harbor Unit to address dangerous conditions on our waterways. I’ve also worked side by side with the Sheriff’s Office to shut down more than 22 illegal smoke shops operating in our neighborhoods.

Beyond funding and enforcement, I have continuously partnered with the NYPD for community events, safety initiatives, and outreach programs to strengthen the bond between officers and the neighborhoods they serve. My commitment is simple: I will always fight for safer streets, stronger deterrence, and the resources our NYPD needs to keep District 13 secure.

Education

I make it a priority to visit schools across the district, meeting with principals, teachers, and parents to identify their most urgent needs.

Through these conversations, I’ve secured $2.3 million for STEM lab upgrades, hydroponic gardens, sensory rooms, technology enhancements, and school security improvements. I fought to create new Pre-K 4 seats for City Island and PS 108, helping ensure that our youngest learners have a strong start.

I also secured $4 million to renovate the City Island Library, making it a modern, welcoming space for students, families, and community members alike. Education is the foundation of our district’s future, and I’m committed to making sure every student has the resources they need to succeed.

Small Business & Economic Development

Small businesses are the backbone of our neighborhoods, and I’ve made sure they have the support they need to thrive. I have provided additional sanitation and programming funding for every single BID in District 13—including the Throggs Neck BID, Morris Park BID, and White Plains Road BID—ensuring our commercial corridors stay clean, safe, and vibrant. I work hand in hand with our BIDs to strengthen local businesses and improve quality of life for the families who shop, work, and gather there.

I also partnered with DSNY to secure new trash cans along the corridors of the BIDs, saving businesses money while improving sanitation across the district. I’ve taken action to protect legitimate businesses by partnering with law enforcement to shut down illegal smoke shops, deter unregulated vendors, and halt any activity that threatens the safety and integrity of our neighborhoods. By delivering resources, enforcing the law, and building strong partnerships, I am making sure District 13 remains a place where small business can grow and succeed.

Parks, Programming,
and Community
I believe our neighborhoods should be safe, clean, and full of spaces where families can enjoy time together. That’s why I’ve delivered over $50 million for parks in District 13, funding upgrades to Loreto Playground, Waterbury Park, Brady Playground, and the Pelham Bay ball fields. These investments are about more than concrete and turf—they’re about creating safe, welcoming spaces where our children can play, our seniors can relax, and our families can come together.

Beyond parks, I’ve invested nearly half a million dollars in cultural programs and arts education, provided free programming for seniors and students, and sponsored community events that bring our neighborhoods to life. From summer concerts to family days at NYCHA, I’ve worked to ensure that every corner of District 13 has access to meaningful and free community programming. Every investment I make in our parks, culture, and public spaces is about building a stronger, more connected community for the families who call District 13 home.

Quality of Life

Quality of life in District 13 means cleaner streets, safer homes, and stronger neighborhoods. That’s why I’ve invested directly in keeping our communities healthy, livable, and secure. I funded over $200,000 for additional DSNY cleanings targeted specifically for our district, fought graffiti and illegal dumping, and worked with city agencies to improve sanitation services where they’re needed most.

To help families stay safe and prepared, I’ve distributed hundreds of flood kits and provided free Ring cameras, in partnership with our precincts, for crime prevention. I’ve also provided over 10,000 hot meals and thousands of pounds of fresh produce to families, ensuring no one in our community is left hungry. From providing hundreds of winter coats and thousands of backpacks and school supplies to sponsoring Family Days at NYCHA developments, I’ve made sure our residents have the resources and support they need. Quality of life isn’t just about infrastructure—it’s about making sure every resident of District 13 feels safe, supported, and proud to call our community home.
